Re-spin or add liquid? A simple rule for the Creami
Dry and powdery: Re-spin first. Still powdery after one Re-spin: add 1 tablespoon of liquid, then Re-spin. Soft and soupy: don't add anything; freeze it 30 minutes and spin again.
Quick rule
| What you see | Do this |
|---|---|
| Powder or snow | Re-spin |
| Still powdery after a re-spin | 1 tbsp liquid + Re-spin |
| Crumbly edges, smooth middle | Re-spin only |
| Smooth but icy crunch | 1 tbsp cream or milk + Re-spin, then fix the recipe |
| Soft and soupy | Freeze 30 min, then Re-spin |
Which liquid
Use what's in the base: milk for dairy bases, the same plant milk for dairy-free, juice for sorbets. For protein pints, a splash of protein shake keeps the macros on track.
How much is too much
Stop at about 3 tablespoons per pint. Past that the texture goes from ice cream to milkshake. If a pint always needs that much, change the recipe instead.
Questions
Does adding liquid change the calories?
A little. 1 tbsp of fat-free milk is about 5 kcal; 1 tbsp of cream is about 50.
